“There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up…”
– John Holmes
Sometimes in order to ‘live a little’, we need to ‘give a little’. Charity, generosity and kindness can be just as satisfying and fulfilling as treating yourself. Alongside my ‘Live a little’ posts, I’ll often share with you all ways you can make a difference and ‘give a little’.
This month for all of you that aren’t aware, St Vincent de Paul are organising the 7th annual Vinnies CEO Sleepout, which will take place across the nation in all major cities on the 21st of June.
There are more than 105,000 Australians homeless every night, including 7,500 families. More than 12,000 Australian children under the age of 12 have no home and finally most families who are homeless, are women and children escaping domestic violence and family violence.
These statistics are incredibly distressing – We live in a nation where homelessness in my eyes, should not exist. It is important that people are aware of the seriousness of homelessness and just how much it affects people’s lives. The CEO Sleepout is a fantastic event to raise money and raise awareness around the issue of homelessness. It’s so wonderful to see so many influential people, CEOs, managers and directors coming together and making a difference. Last year a staggering 4.2 million dollars was raised.
I am incredibly proud to announce that my father, Phil Crenigan is taking part in the CEO Sleepout for a second time this year. Passionate about the cause, he has dedicated his time and efforts. With just a week to go, he has nearly reached his $10,000 target. If you would like to not only support my dad, but also the Vinnie’s Sleep Out, click here where you can donate.
Together we can make a difference, we can stop homelessness.
.. and remember, sometimes in order to live a little, we need to give a little!
