New Resolution? Snap Away With Camera Chick!

January 24, 2015

I can’t believe that we are fast approaching February, is it me or has January just flown by? There are so many things about January that I love. It’s still summer and beautifully warm, people are slowly getting back into the swing of things and it seems that everyone is travelling, having weekends away and just enjoying the moment. We had News Years Eve, New Years Day and Australia Day weekend is just around the corner.

I have loved hearing about everyones new years resolutions too – something I’ve promised myself is to start capturing more key moments in my life and not just on my smart phone, with my camera and actively get them printed. There is something so wonderful about photography and looking back on all the memories I have created with friends, family and love ones.

I am promising you, my readers, more photography based posts. Places I visit, things I love and fashion that inspires me, and I am asking you to do the same. Capture as many moments as possible. Create albums, collages and fill photo frames with memories. There is something so much more exciting when a photograph is tangible.

To get you photographically inspired, I wanted to share with you a photo and video shoot I did last year with a very special business called Camera Chick. It has been one of my favourite collaborations and was super happy with how everything turned out. Owned by photographer, Natalie Winter, Camera Chick provides unique and beautiful bags that can safely store all your photographic and camera gear.

Our shoot took place in the beautiful Southern Highlands and we were blessed with stunning weather. After filming the videos for Camera Chick (which you can view here), Natalie and I had a wonderful time driving around the area scouting perfect shooting spots. My favourite location? The famous Lolly Swagman Lolly Shop, which is heaven on earth if you have a sweet tooth! I thought it would be nice to share with you some of my favourite snaps from our photo shoot.

What I loved the most about the photo shoot was the fact that there was no specific creative direction – it was super relaxed and all the photos candid. And the result? Perfect! It’s this particular photo shoot that has inspired me to be a little bit more proactive with the camera, and I hope it has for you too. Don’t be shy, grab that camera and start snapping away! You’ll never know what you’ll capture.

Until next time! X

Summer Hair, Don’t Care!

November 21, 2014

I have had a number of requests for some beauty and hair posts recently, so I thought it would be fabulous to share with you all two of my favourite summer styles – the French Chignon and my take on the Beach Wave.

My friends at hooked me up with some amazing hair products from Original Mineral, perfect for the two styles that I wanted to create. O&M have an amazing range of products – both for colour and styling. Aside from the very slick packaging, O&M are against animal testing, which Leo and I both give the tick of approval.

Know Knott Detangling Spray
The perfect summer have for when you’re at the beach or near the pool. Saltwater and chlorine can really dry out your hair and for a blondie like me, can make your hair feel so icky. Full of Argan and Macadamia oil, Know Knott won’t just smooth your hair, it will recondition it too. Just spritz all over and then run through with a comb or brush.

Surf Bomb Sea Salt Texture Spray
This product is your partner-in-crime for when you want to oomph your hair. As you’ll see in my how-to videos, Surf Bomb, will just give you that extra bit of lift and texture without leaving your hair dry and crispy.

Frizzy Logic Shine Serum

I cannot share with you all how important it is to have a shine serum in reach. For a slick hair style, it can just polish the whole look off. There’s nothing worse than styling your hair to then step outside into the Aussie heat for your fly aways to suddenly stand on end and for the frizz to kick in. Frizzy Logic is the 3-in-1. It smoothes your hair, protects it from humidity, and adds shine to give a silky, yes-I’ve-just-stepped-out-of-the-salon look.

Original Queenie Firm Hold Hair Spray
So you’ve done all your hard work, so you need to set your style right? Grab the Original Queenie, she will hold your style in place, but without leaving that tacky, sticky, ‘urgh’ feeling that some hair sprays leave behind. Some of the ingredients include Australian native Lilly Pilly, which manages to  extend the hold by reducing unwanted oil and Quandong adds weightless protection to nourish the hair.
So let me guess, you want to see the products in action right? Well look no further..

Live a Little TV: Original Mineral from Sophie Crenigan (Livealittle.TV) on Vimeo.

Since the summer months are here, I do encourage you to live a little, and to be a bit adventurous with your styling. Try the wave or a fancy up-do. There are plenty of occasions, so technically you haven’t got much of an excuse. Plus, and I don’t know how to explain it, but a girl carries herself a little taller and walks with a little more confidence once she’s has her hair styled.. 😉

We shined & we dined with great success!

August 4, 2014

It was certainly a night to remember and one to never forget. A night of glitz, glamour and sophistication, The Annual Shine & Dine 2014. Hundreds of beautiful guests, VIPs and celebrities  came together in support of one cause, Make-A-Wish. An incredible organisation that provides children who are facing life-threatening illnesses, an opportunity to have their wishes come true.

Doltone House was transformed into a black, gold and sparkly vision, with every table dotted with extravagant candelabras. It was just beautiful. We had spectacular live performances from Casey Burgess and Mis Joelle, a live and silent auction, a candle lighting ceremony and balloon popping. However the most beautiful moment of the evening (and what ultimately the whole night is about) was witnessing six-year-old Brianna Younie, receive her wish from wedding dress guru, Henry Roth, a stay in the Gold Coast to have fun at the theme parks. It was incredibly emotional, but also uplifting to be able to see exactly where the funds raised goes to. Brianna, I hope you have a spectacular time! As the red carpet interviewer, it was wonderful to meet and chat with major sponsors, celebrities and ambassadors who all positively impacted the event in one way or another. Many thanks to Field of Art Productions who put together all the videos. You can check out my interviews below with footie legend Beau Ryan who talks about his involvement with the Shine & Dine and returning guest – singer and song writer, Casey Burgess. I also got to catch up with celebrity chef and ambassador Massimo Mele. I also got to boogie on down with INXS rock legend Jon Fariss who tells me all about the incredible guitar that was donated for the night.

I had a lot of enquiries after the event about my dress. Perfect for the occasion, it curtainly shined. My gown was provided by the incredible Indian-Australian based designer, WANNI. I was dressed in a custom couture gown from Wanni’s ‘A Whimsical Evening’ S/S ’14/’14 Collection. The stunning neck piece, is painstakingly hand sewn over five long days. I also had a hand-made Indian head piece in the back of my hair. Many thanks to Lattouf Hair and Napoleon Perdis for my beautiful hair and makeup.

I want to also take the opportunity to congratulate Sharon Melhem from Kouture Productions, the brains and founder of the Shine and Dine on such a spectacular evening. Two months out from the event and still people are talking about it! I want to extend my congratulations and thanks to all the sponsors, donators and guests who made the night simply perfect. I cannot wait to see what the Shine and Dine 2015 has in store and I hope to see you all there next year!

Beautiful Because..

December 18, 2013

I am so excited to share with you all an online store that solely focuses on natural, organic and cruelty free beauty and cosmetic products, something that I (and little Leo) are very passionate about. There are so many products on the market that all claim to do the same thing, but do organic/natural products perform just as well as the other brands out there? Well I investigated..

Beautiful Because is an Australian online store that provides customers with an extensive range of international and national products that aren’t only good for Mother Earth, but also a treat for yourself ;).

Beautiful Because sent me through a wonderful range of beauty and cosmetic goodies to try including a cleanser, toner, facial oil and cosmetics.

I thought it would be fantastic to produce another episode of Live a Little TV, sharing my thoughts on the products that I was sent through from the team at Beautiful Because.

I was incredibly impressed with the timeliness of the delivery, with my products arriving within days of me placing the order. Beautiful Because go above and beyond, wrapping each individual item with love and care. If you look closely, you will see I even had some lovely handwritten messages on each of the products sent through.

If you’re looking for some last minute Christmas gifts for someone, or even if you want to live a little, and treat yourself, then I would thoroughly with out a doubt, recommend Beautiful Because. Not only will they provide you with an impeccable service and shopping experience, but are passionately supporting cruelty free and naturally derived products – which ultimately are always going to benefit you more!

Even Leo is super pleased with the natural products 😉

The Annual Shine & Dine 2013

June 10, 2013

Last week it was announced that I am the official red carpet interviewer for The Annual Shine & Dine, a brand new charity ball organised by Kouture Productions to raise much needed funds for the amazing Make-A-Wish Foundation. I am so excited to be a part of such a wonderful event and to be a part of helping such a fantastic organisation. On Friday 28th of June, the stunning Doltone House will hold this ticketed black tie event. Hosted by media personality, Melissa Hoyer, the event will commence at 7.30 and guests will be treated to a delicious three course meal and will be entertained by the Voice’s own and Make-A-Wish Ambassador, Brittany Cairns. Additionally, Massimo Mele, who heads the Hugos Group has also jumped on board and become an Ambassador. Mele will be auctioned off on the night, as guests have the chance to have Mele come to their house and cook a private dinner for six people!

There will be prize draws, silent auctions and raffles on the night, with a chance to ride with Vic Lorrusso in the Sydney Traffic Chopper as one of the prizes. For the first time ever, guests have the wonderful opportunity of becoming ‘wishing angels’. Currently there are over 500 wishes waited to be granted by seriously ill children and on average they’re waiting up to two years to see their wishes turned into reality. The Annual Shine & Dine will be donating all proceeds with the aim of granting wishes and reducing the waiting time. Please come along and enjoy a wonderful evening of entertainment, delicious food and glamour, whilst raising much needed funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation!

I can’t wait to see you there on the night and make sure you come and have a chat to me on the  red carpet – don’t be shy now! Live and give a little,

Kato Swim & Live a Little TV Collaboration

January 10, 2013

Kato Swim and LALTV 2013

So we are well and truly into 2013 and I have incredibly high expectations. I am feeling refreshed, revived and can’t wait to get stuck into another year. I thought I’d start 2013 with a bang, and introduce my friends, fans and followers to one of Australia’s hottest up and coming labels, Kato Swim.

I came across Kato Swim late last year and completely fell in love with the collection, ‘Aquatica’ – it’s colourful, bright, fresh and incredibly unique. All I kept thinking was just how beautiful each piece was and how perfect it would be for Summer days, lounging by the pool and partying away into those balmy nights. I contacted Kate Campbell, the designer and owner of the label and we thought it would be an amazing idea to do a collaboration shoot to sky rocket Kato Swim into 2013.

It was such a pleasure to be the face of Kato Swim. Many thanks to our incredible photographer Dan Gosse, the queen of hair and makeup, Connie Giaquinto and finally to our stylist and location provider, the beautiful, Shelley Daly. The team were truly fantastic  and I am sure you guys will be wow’d with the images.

Kato Swim is certainly a label to keep your eye on 2013. Kate’s designs are bright, daring and fashion forward. Invest in some of her collection, because you’ll certainly stand out from the crowd!

Get adventurous with your wardrobe, wear the neon trend and live a little! Remember summer won’t be here forever!

Give A Little: The ACMF

October 21, 2012

“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” – Plato

This is such an inspiring quote and I truly believe music is everything and can have such a profound and positive effect on people. Having grown up with my father and grandfather playing the piano and having some of my fondest childhood memories made up of them singing, music has always been woven throughout my life. Although not being specifically musically talented, I do appreciate music and  believe it can relax you, brighten you, can bring people together socially and can be incredibly therapeutic.

I am so pleased to be writing this particular post and sharing the latest episode of Live a Little TV, all about the beautiful organisation, the Australian Children’s Music Foundation. I believe the work that the ACMF does and the services they provide to children in need is so wonderful and very special. I was introduced to the ACMF a few years ago by my father, who was previously on the executive board and have been following their progress ever since.

I had the pleasure of interviewing the very inspiring and legendary CEO and founder of the ACMF, Don Spencer. Check out the interview here:

Live A Little TV: ACMF, a Give a Little Special! from Sophie Crenigan (Livealittle.TV) on Vimeo.
As they enter their 10th year, the ACMF just keeps on achieving and their future looks so bright. Don and his team, the charity ambassadors and all the volunteers involved put in an outstanding amount of effort, dedication and commitment to providing musical services to children in need.

To get involved, donate or to find out more, once again check out their website:

Remember everyone.. get inspired, get involved and give a little!

Dreaming About Summer: ELLIATT

July 9, 2012

We are right now, slap bang in the middle of Winter, with less than 4 months to go, I thought it would be a great idea to get inspired about summer fashion, trends, all things holidaying and resort.

Last week I was invited to interview the team behind one of Australia’s hottest designers, ELLIATT. Katie, the head designer and owner of the label shared some of their key pieces from their Resort Collection, ‘Creatures of the Deep’ for 2012.

With a mix of shimmer, sparkle, bright popping neons and beautiful lace, I couldn’t help but get excited about the bright blue skies, the 25+ heat and the warm, balmy summer nights that lie ahead of us!

Get excited and inspired by watching the full coverage here:

All I am dreaming about right now is Summer: Reading a book in the garden, swimming in the ocean, slapping on cocoa butter after being in the sun all day and wearing a dress out at night without shivering! With my coconut and lime candle burning as I type, I am literally counting down the days (145 to be exact!). I’ll leave you with some Summerific (new word!) images to get you nice and prepared..

Summer Nights

Say it with me: ‘Bring on Summer’ and remember to always Live a little!

Woo! For the love of Fridays!

July 2, 2012

“Free entry, cheap drinks and some of the best house djs around!”

What a weekend! On Friday night, I had the pleasure of being invited to cover ‘For the Love of Fridays’ a brand new club night at ’21’ in the notorious Kings Cross of Sydney. Established by Adrian Kalcic and Jordan Jeffery from Panda Entertainment the purpose was to create a fun, social atmosphere for younger patrons (18-21) and keep all expenses affordable (through free entry and cheap drinks – a rarity for most clubs in the Cross!).

’21’ is slightly reclused and hidden away, and if you didn’t know where the bar actually was, you would definitely have trouble finding it! On Kellett St, next to Sapphire Lounge, ’21’ seems modest on the outside, but once you head up the staircase you’re met with a New York loft vibe mixed in with luxurious elements. Spread over 2 levels, the club can definitely accommodate up to 300 people. With soft candle light, big VIP booths and one of the biggest disco balls I’ve ever seen, all ties together to create a fantastic party venue.

Being their debut evening, both Adrian and Jordan were a little nervous and apprehensive, but by 11pm the club was buzzing with energy and nearly at capacity! Definitely a night of fun, antics, loud music and flowing drinks. Judging by the success of Friday, I think we’ll definitely be seeing ‘For the Love of Fridays’ alot more regularly.

For the full coverage of the night, watch here:

Congratulations to Adrian and Jordan and many thanks to Panda Entertainment and ’21’ for letting me head down there and cover the night – I had alot of fun! Also a special thanks to my partner in crime, Pete who was my camera man.

Have a great week guys and remember Live a little!
