Stoli Launches Australia!

August 4, 2013

Last week I headed off to one of the coolest events I’ve been to – the launch of ORGNL.TV, an editorial channel highlighting emerging talent in the areas of fashion, music, art, technology and taste. Backed by the world famous Stoli Vodka, 300 guests certainly had a night to remember.

The location of the event was a secret until the day before, and it was awesome trying to find out exactly where the event was. So secretive, when I arrived, I actually walked straight past the entry! Held in and underground warehouse in Surry Hills, I don’t think any of the guests knew what to expect.

After being directed down a flight of stairs, guests were greeted with a huge room, dimly lit by red lights. With neon ‘Stoli’ lights dotted everywhere, vintage furniture and mannequins all over the place and an awesome DJ and sound system set up at the back, the venue was packed and the party in full swing.

We were treated to a delicious menu of mini burgers, mac n’ cheese and prawn cocktails and naturally sipped on unique Stoli cocktails. With 5 to choose from, each cocktail was tailored around the 5 themes of ORGNL.TV – Art, Fashion, Music, Tech & Taste.

My favourite was definitely the “Taste Maker”. A fruity and fresh cocktail that was all about the tropics. To tee up a Taste Maker? “Pineapple and passion fruit, Aperol liquor, fresh lime and Stolichnaya Premium Vodka, garnished with a pineapple triangle“.

Check out some of my event snaps here:

Guests were treated to a unique light show by Le Petit Mort and a limited edition fashion gift by designer Limedrop. The 2012 ORGNL.TV art winner, Jake Stollery was also there sharing his unbelievable digital art.

With some amazing partners including inthemix, Russh magazine, The Thousands and Fast Louder onboard, ORGNL.TV will provide us with some regular fresh and quirky content. The Australian version will be similar to the editorial content that has been created by Stoli overseas.

In the meantime, try a few Stoli cocktails, be a part of the ‘orgnl’ movement and live a little!

Sunnier Side Up

July 21, 2013

One of the most frightening statistics I’ve ever heard, was that every 40 seconds a teenager commits suicide. I know it’s an incredibly confronting issue, we cannot ignore it any longer. We as a society, have a responsibility, especially for our teens.

I was very fortunate enough to attend the media launch of ‘Sunnier Side Up’ on Friday evening, held at the iconic Hugos Lounge. With over 400 guests in attendance, there was a positive vibe, knowing that we were all there together creating awareness around this amazing project.

So what exactly is Sunnier Side Up? Well, Sunnier Side Up is a feature length documentary film and a 28-part web series that flips the subject of youth suicide on its back – shining a light on the world of today’s teenagers and young people by illuminating their hopes and fears, struggles and successes, their dreams and ideas for a positive future. It’s revealing, honest and intends to inform as well as entertain in a very human way.

The triple threat (Writer/Producer/Director) Jay Richards has written, produced and directed short films, music videos and documentary web series, and worked as a TV editor. He’s been living and breathing this project for more than a year and spoke so passionately about it at the launch. “When I was teenager I battled with depression and tried to take my own life. Unlike millions of young people the world over I was fortunate enough to get through it, recover and go on to live a happier, successful life.” he says. To hear a little bit more about the film, click here.

So the launch is over – what next? Well, there are so many ways that you can support Sunnier Side Up.

1. See the film!
2. Make the pledge to stop suicide by making a small donation here. You’ll even be rewarded for your donations, depending on how much you donate (too cute!).
3. Join the social media bandwagon to stay up to date. They’re on instagram, twitter and facebook.

As you can see, I’ve personally made the pledge to end youth suicide. So please join me and do the same. I am really excited to see the film and best of all, it’s completely to free to watch. Using the power of social media, the documentary will be shared, shedding the light on a controversial, but important issue.

Give a little, live a little and be a part of the ‘Sunnier Side Up’ movement!

We Shined & We Dined!

July 12, 2013

As many of you know, I was involved with the first ever Annual Shine & Dine a couple of weeks ago. I was incredibly honoured to be the official red-carpet interviewer on the night. It was a magical evening and everyone was shining bright and dressed to the nines. Despite the wet and windy weather, over 350 guests came together to raise funds and celebrate the amazing work of Make-A-Wish Australia.

I just thought I’d share some snaps and give a run down on how successful the night was. I was lucky enough to interview some amazing celebrities and high-profile guests including Melissa Hoyer, celebrity chef, Massimo Mele, The Voice’s Brittany Cairns & Fatai, Puberty Blue’s Sean Keenan and some amazing people and sponsors who not only gave up their time and efforts, but were there on the night, celebrating with everyone.

I would like to personally thank Seduce, who very kindly dressed me. I was flooded with compliments about my dress and was so happy to be representing an iconic Australian label. Many thanks to Sanctuary For Hair for my stunning up-do and finally Napoleon Perdis for my makeup.

To the part that makes my heart burst with excitement.. I am incredibly pleased to announce that we successfully managed to raise, $44,252 on the night, with all proceeds going to Make-A-Wish Australia. As an organisation, they manage to touch the lives of so many seriously ill children, by granting wishes and providing them with memories that will stay with them for ever. I was even lucky enough to speak with some young people who had had their wishes granted. It was so incredibly touching and just made the night even more special for me.

To Sharon and her wonderful events team at Kouture Productions, congratulations on such a fabulous evening. You blew everyone away, exceeding everyones expectations! I am so excited for the Annual Shine & Dine 2014 – it’s going to be bigger and better!

In the mean time, make sure you guys get involved here – be a part of Make-A-Wish Australia and give a little!

Bubbles with Bimbadgen!

June 24, 2013

So a couple of weeks ago I got a very special delivery in the mail, something I’ve never received before – 2 bottles of delicious Bimbadgen Moscato!

I love wine tasting and I am a big wine drinker, so when the opportunity came to try and review I jumped at the chance. The Bimbadgen Estate, is based in the beautiful Hunter Valley, in Pokolbin, so I was so pleased to be trying and supporting a locally based winery.

The Bimbadgen Estate is a wonderful winery, with a restaurant, outdoor amphitheatre, modern tasting rooms and accommodation. The Estate produces a wide variety of wines from whites, to reds, to roses and sparkling varieties – including their Moscato.

Now the the taste, I love the description – “floral aromas of rose petals, musk and Turkish Delight“. It was full of bubbles, light and not over the top sweet. If you’re a Moscato lover (like me!), then you would definitely love this Bimbadgen variety. My house mate, Sarah also loved it and said it was the perfect sparkling to start a night out with – fresh, fruity and super bubbly.

I was so pleased to get the opportunity to try such a gorgeous Moscato variety. I’ve still got one bottle left, which I’ll definitely be cracking open soon! For more information on the Bimbadgen Estate, check out their Facebook here and if you’re planning a Hunter trip anytime soon, make sure you give them a visit.

In the meantime, make sure you crack a bottle open & live a little!

The Annual Shine & Dine 2013

June 10, 2013

Last week it was announced that I am the official red carpet interviewer for The Annual Shine & Dine, a brand new charity ball organised by Kouture Productions to raise much needed funds for the amazing Make-A-Wish Foundation. I am so excited to be a part of such a wonderful event and to be a part of helping such a fantastic organisation. On Friday 28th of June, the stunning Doltone House will hold this ticketed black tie event. Hosted by media personality, Melissa Hoyer, the event will commence at 7.30 and guests will be treated to a delicious three course meal and will be entertained by the Voice’s own and Make-A-Wish Ambassador, Brittany Cairns. Additionally, Massimo Mele, who heads the Hugos Group has also jumped on board and become an Ambassador. Mele will be auctioned off on the night, as guests have the chance to have Mele come to their house and cook a private dinner for six people!

There will be prize draws, silent auctions and raffles on the night, with a chance to ride with Vic Lorrusso in the Sydney Traffic Chopper as one of the prizes. For the first time ever, guests have the wonderful opportunity of becoming ‘wishing angels’. Currently there are over 500 wishes waited to be granted by seriously ill children and on average they’re waiting up to two years to see their wishes turned into reality. The Annual Shine & Dine will be donating all proceeds with the aim of granting wishes and reducing the waiting time. Please come along and enjoy a wonderful evening of entertainment, delicious food and glamour, whilst raising much needed funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation!

I can’t wait to see you there on the night and make sure you come and have a chat to me on the  red carpet – don’t be shy now! Live and give a little,

Seduce Spring/Summer 2013

June 6, 2013

Last night I had the pleasure of attending the Seduce Spring/Summer 2013 Collection Launch at the Japanese restaurant Crane Bar, in Potts Point. It was more of an intimate party, with all the stunning pieces on racks around the room, on mannequins or live models, so we could really get a feel for what the collection was like.

Every single piece was beautiful. There was so much colour and the designs were very fashion forward and on trend. With bright kaleidoscope patterns, contrasting shapes, neons, angular lines the collection was eye-catching and daring. Considering we have just hit Winter, and practically everyone dresses dark, dark, dark, it was wonderful to see so much colour (something I can finally look forward to when Summer hits – 178 days and counting!). I can honestly say, I would wear the entire collection.

With little garden chairs to sit on, and the indoor-outdoor courtyard dressed in gorgeous flowers, it really did feel like Spring again! We were fed delicious Asian canapes, including sang choy bow, teriyaki chicken skewers and sushi and sipped chilled champagne and the delicious H2 Coco, the latest coconut water.

Guests included fashion and lifestyle bloggers, fashion buyers, representatives and stylists. It was so awesome for everyone to be able to have a sneaky preview the collection before it launches soon!

Additionally, our goodie bags were amazing too! With product from Skinny You TeaModel CoOriginal MineralH2 Coco and of course, Seduce!

Many thanks to the amazing Seduce team for inviting me along, the event was beautiful, the food was beautiful and well, the collection was most certainly beautiful! I can’t wait to get my hands on all the pieces!

For my readers, keep your eyes peeled, the SS 13 collection will begin to drop in July, so make sure you check out Seduce’s website or head in store. Add some colour to your wardrobe!

Live a little,

HFB Bloggers Brunch

May 22, 2013

This morning I was invited along by the exquisite Kath Purkis & Kerry Osborn, to attend Her Fashion Box’s ‘Blogger Brunch’ at the very cool, The Grounds in Alexandria.

I have regularly talked about the Her Fashion Box concept on my blog (I am SUCH a fan!) but I thought I’d share what I got up to this morning.

Kath & Kerry invited a number bloggers along to hear about the business behind Her Fashion Box, what the concept involves and where Her Fashion Box was going in the future. We were treated to a delicious breakfast of poached eggs, tomatoes, ham, avocado and toast accompanied with one of the best skim lattes I’ve ever had.

It was a great opportunity to meet with other amazing bloggers and meet the brains behind the business in person.

Here are some snaps of the event:

If you haven’t heard of Her Fashion Box, make sure you check out my review here. It’s the most amazing fashion & beauty subscription service and the first of its kind in Australia.

Many thanks to Kath & Kerry and the Her Fashion Box team for inviting me along – I had a wonderful time and I am so pleased to be able to share the Her Fashion Box story with everyone!

In the mean time, keep your eyes out for some beauty posts, a restaurant review and for the first time in Live a Little history, some kitty related posts!

May 16, 2013

Last night I had the pleasure of attending the premiere of ‘1 Day in Paradise’, at the very cool Small Bar, just tucked away off Erskine St in the city. Despite the cooler weather, everyone was in high spirits and full of warmth given the occasion! Thank you so much to Haystac Communications & Tropical North Queensland Tourism for the invite (one of the best I’ve received!)

We were treated to an array of creative, off-the-wall and individual short films by a number of Australian film makers, as a short-film competition launched this week in partnership with Tropical North Queensland Tourism. However, these film makers had a few guidelines to follow:

1. Videos had to showcase the film makers own version of ‘paradise’.
2. Videos had to be under 2 minutes long.
3. Videos had to be set against the stunning backdrop of Tropical North Queensland.
4. Videos had to be shot with a GoPro camera.

CEO of Tourism Tropical North QLD, Rob Giason, said: “By enforcing the rule of shooting only on a GoPro, this challenge has stripped away all the bells and whistles filmmakers traditionally rely on and forced them to really test their creativity to its limits. What we’ve ended up with are twenty wildly different but utterly compelling films”.

It was wonderful to see how each film maker interpreted the concept of ‘paradise’ – from swimming with turtles, relocating a sofa to the Daintree, to a boy that lived nearly his entire existence on a boat. The uniqueness and creativity behind each video blew me away.

The films will be judged in June by a panel of experts who will consider a range of criteria including creativity, content and effectiveness in showcasing the region, as well as the popular vote. Judges include film journalist Sandy George – a past judge of Australian Tropfest and current presenter of films on SBS One – and Dr Rachel Landers, Head of Documentary at AFTRS (Australian Film, Television and Radio School). The lucky film maker, who will be announced as winner, will be awarded with $75,000.

So how do my readers get involved? As a mentioned before, judges will take into consideration the popular vote i.e. you! All you need to do, is head to and watch the top 20. Cast a vote and decide who you like.

Many congratulations to all the top 20, it was a pleasure to watch them all!

I am encouraging all of you to go and watch the videos, you’ll definitely be blown away by each film makers interpretation of the concept, their creativity and their ideas. I must admit attending last night really spurred me to go and holiday up in Tropical North Queensland! It wasn’t too long ago that I was writing about the magic of Port Douglas.. So hopefully after watching the collection of clips, you’ll be inspired like I’ve been, to live a little and book an escape away!

The Ultimate Wedding Planning Party 2013

April 16, 2013

gm photo hero shot

I have a few friends that are currently engaged and soon to be married, and I must admit, it’s so much fun chatting about wedding ideas, the dresses, the suits, the cake, the music, the entertainment, the ceremony, the flowers, the venue, the guest-list, the food.. I think you get the picture! I can go on and on!

I’ve also realised just how much is actually involved in organising a wedding.

Coming up on the 8th of May, is one of the most glamourous events for any bride-to-be to attend, the Ultimate Wedding Planning Party all due to the amazing Kim Veverka from Magnet PR and Events. Now in its fifth year, the Ultimate Wedding Planning Party is going to be more elegant than ever, with this years theme, being the Vintage & Classic bride.

Held at the prestigious Opera Point Marquee at the iconic Sydney Opera House, you’ll be blown away as the venue is transformed into a spectacular showcase. Brides and grooms will be treated to guest speakers A-list wedding planner, Anthony Del Col, wedding photographer, Rachael Bentick and Abraham Joffe, the wedding film guru, who will share their tips, tricks and ideas to make your day one to never forget. Attendees will also be treated like celebrities, with a tasting experience of canapes provided by ARIA catering.

Industry experts from the some of the best in the industry will be present to answer any wedding qualms one might have. Representatives from the following, ARIA Catering, Sweet Art, Vintage Kitchen, De La Mod Stationary, Bobbi Brown Makeup and Jo Malone will there to chat face-to-face with guests.

The ‘Pièce de résistance’ of the evening will be the bridal showcase. In my experience, the ‘purchasing of the dress’ can be either very smooth sailing or can be one of the most aggravating experiences for a bride. The Ultimate Wedding Planning Party has organised the creme-de-la-creme of Australian bridal designers to show their designs. Brides-to-be will be treated to the stunning designs of Steven Khalil, Maria Chiodo, Karen Willis Holmes, Henry & Michelle Roth, Kristi Bonnici Bridal Accessories, Ermenegildo Zegna, Peeptoe Shoes & Rachel Gilbert. With an aim to remove the stresses of buying dresses, a bountiful number of designs will be shown, allowing brides-to-be to walk away feeling inspired.

To top the night off a little more, brides and grooms will be in the running to win some incredible door prizes and each guest will be treated to a gorgeous gift bag filled with wedding day gifts, valued at an outstanding $500.00!

For any bride-to-be, The Ultimate Wedding Planning Party is a must attend event. Evoking feelings of elegance, style and glamour, get inspired whilst being in one of the most beautiful locations in the world.

Your wedding will be the most amazing day of your life – so live a little and buy yourself a ticket!

Love Is In the Air..

February 13, 2013

Tomorrow is the 14th of Feb.. That’s right, Valentines Day – some people loathe it, some people love it and I must suspect it might have to do with your relationship status. For those married or in a relationship, how Valentines Day runs, is a test to see if a) your partner remembered and b) how creative they can get.  I am personally in relationship, and must admit I do get a teeny tiny bit jealous of the single girls when it comes to Valentines Day.. The unexpected delivery of roses from a secret admirer, love notes left in the office or perhaps as far as a dinner date with a new suitor? It’s much more exciting, thrilling and well – it’s always nice to know your wanted. But with ups and highs, there are downs and lows. Valentines Day can be often a depressing day for many, as to be point blank – you can end up with nothing. No roses, no chocolates and no love notes.

I figured the best way forward is to expect not a lot. I know that’s very cynical of me, but if you go in head first in to Valentines Day with low expectations, you might end up pleasantly surprised. And to be honest, if the ladies put in a little effort too, the love will certainly be evenly spread. I’ve come up with some creative ideas to tackle Valentines Day a little bit differently – ideas for couples and those who are single.

1. Chocolate Bouquets from Lollypotz
I love this company – they take the typical flowers and chocolates and smash it into one – chocolate bouquets! Yes they do the typical romantic, Valentines Day pink and red, teddies galore options if you’re into that type of thing, but I really love the options for the boys. That’s right, ladies you can send your own chocolate bouquet to your husband, boyfriend or secret admirer. Lollypotz go one step further, and can even incorporate alcohol into the bouquets. I love the Bundy Box and the Jack in Black pictured below. Talk about turning the Valentines Day concept on its head.

bundyboxlpz6678 jackinblacklpz6657
2. “How to get Along with Boys” stocked by the Iconic
This is a fantastically funny parody advice book, explaining to the single ladies out there how to apparently ‘interact with men’. With tips of the trade, advice and situation plans, written from the perspective of the 1940s, you guaranteed to make your single girlfriend have a chuckle.

3. Personalised Alcohol from Brewtopia
These guys are amazing. I actually bought a case of beers for my boyfriend for his birthday and the best part about it, is that you can personalise the label completely – with messages, texts and even photographs. Brewtopia will personalise ciders, beers, wine, water bottles and even coffee. Could make a pretty neat Valentines Day gift and the perfect opportunity to tell your Valentine how much you care about them!

4. Name a Star
How about the ultimate present? Imagine having a star named specifically after your loved one. The Powerhouse Museum and the Sydney Observatory enables you to associate a name with a star in their Sydney Southern Star Catalogue. The best part, is that  all available stars to be named are magnitude 6-10 and can be viewed through the telescopes at Sydney Observatory, and from anywhere in Australia or the Southern Hemisphere.  Personally I think this is one romantic gesture, but it would certainly get the message across!

5. Off the wall date ideas – Taronga Zoo, Moonlight Cinema and Sydney Aquarium
Don’t bother with the ordinary – take your special someone to experience something truly unique. Dinner dates are always lovely, but that’s the standard, it’s what is generally the expectation. Lift that expectation and I promise you whether you’re happily married, in a relationship or perhaps in the wooing process, your partner will be pleasantly surprised.

Taronga Zoo, Mosman
Animals are cute – everyone knows this! You might even be lucky to see animals in love too, which creates a special ‘aaaahhh’ moment. I love Taronga Zoo. It’s well kept, the animals are wonderful and there is a huge variation of creatures. Further more, Taronga Zoo work with conservation and environmental protection- something I am very passionate about! And since being in located in Mosman, whilst you’re walking around the park, you can always see stunning city and harbour vistas. Very romantic!

The zoos open from 9.30-4.30pm and admission at $44 for adults.

Moonlight Cinema, Centennial Park
Another take on the classic Valentines Day choice – yes a cinema is a great option, but a cinema outside is even better! Just think – blankets, pillows, gourmet picnics and perhaps a bottle of champagne too? You’re guaranteed a romantic evening. Just make sure its a romantic comedy and not a depressing drama or slasher film. May kill the mood just a little bit!

Session begins at 8.30pm and it’s $32 (for Gold Grass!) and $18 for normal admission.

Sydney Aquarium, Darling Harbour
Take your partner to explore the world under water – with beautiful coloured fish, turtles, penguins and the amazing dugongs. The best part of Sydney Aquarium, are the giant glass tunnels that you can walk through, giving you a view from all different angles. Definitely something a little bit different in my eyes and your partner will certainly remember this date!

The Sydney Aquarium is open from 9.00am-8.00pm daily and is $38.00 for entry.

Come on guys, live a little! It’s not too late to organise something special for your loved one – and hey if your single, keep your fingers crossed because you don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow. It might just be your lucky day.

Happy Valentines Day from Live a Little Xx

Avant Garde Nights

November 21, 2012

Last week I was incredibly lucky to hit the runway for the launch of Avant Garde Nights, which happened down at the beautiful Bar 100 in the Rocks. Now I am such sucker for fashion shows with all the glamour, the models and the stunning hair and makeup, but I was even happier and my wish came true when I was offered the job of walking in one!

So what exactly is Avant Garde Nights? Well, it’s going to be happening regularly, every Tuesday night at Bar 100, as an opportunity for up-and-coming designers to showcase their collections to a large scale audience and with a professional, high quality production show. Bar 100 is the most perfect and chic venue for Avant Garde Nights, with its beautiful architecture, high ceilings and stained glass windows, it made a stunning setting for the launch. Plenty of champagne was flowing and it was a fabulous fashion-filled night!

Last Tuesday, a range of designers were featured, including Josual Molou, Pizzuto, Marama Dima, Toni Marie and Team M8. Each one was so unique and it was an amazing opportunity to walk for them, as they were all so different from each other. From resort wear, to party dresses right through to mens underwear! With a variety of colours, styles and cuts and prints, the show was diverse and appealed to all.

So enough with the natter, I should perhaps share some snaps with you! (Many thanks to the photographers who were there on the night and thankyou for the following images).

This was my all-time favourite look of the night that I got to model, it was such an amazing dress and was by Josual Molou – such an awesome designer! Make sure you check their Facebook!

It was so much fun being a part of the runway, so I want to thank Bar 100 and Avant Garde Nights for the opportunity. Many congratulations to the designers, photographers, makeup artists, hair stylists and all the staff at Bar 100. It was a fantastic night!

So next time you’ve got mid-week blues, you’ve got the perfect post-work drinks option! What a way to brighten up a normally very  uneventful Tuesday. Head down to Bar 100, feast your eyes on some fabulous fashion and enjoy a glass of bubbly (or two!) and don’t forget to live a little.

Happy Halloween with Maxim!

November 2, 2012

On Wednesday I had the pleasure of celebrating Halloween (one of my favourite holidays) in the best way possible! I was invited to the Maxim Top 100 Hottest Women Halloween Party at the very cool, Marquee, in Sydney’s renovated casino, The Star.

Marquee was transformed, with Halloween memorabilia everywhere, dark red lighting and packed with people ‘glammed’ up in some amazing costumes. With drinks flowing (plenty of Jager, who was the events sponsor), music pumping, Maxim girls dressed up as devils and plenty of dancing, it certainly was a night to remember!

Thought I’d share some pictures from the photobooth that Maxim had set up. My friend Stephanie dressed as a she-wolf, and I went as the devil in red! We had so much fun! A special thankyou to my agency, AMG, who invited us.

The simply stunning Miranda Kerr came in at number one (Surprise surprise!). She is so beautiful and totally deserved the number one spot and the list was full of Australia’s most beautiful women!

So a quick thankyou to AMG, Maxim, Jager, and Marquee for putting on a killer night! I had so much fun. Make sure you check out Marquee – they regularly host awesome nights, put on the best parties and get some of the best DJs around the world to spin the decks. Definitely one of the most happening places right now!

Another quick thankyou to the beautiful girls at The Doll House in Top Ryde, who spent at least an hour helping me find my amazing dress.. If anyone wanted to know, it’s Wheels & Doll Baby! Make sure you head to The Doll House. They have the most stunning collection of dresses I have ever seen. You could spend hours and hours in there trying on all their pieces!

So go on guys, get glam up, head out to Marquee, party the night away and live a little! X
